TRX-16
16:1 Receive Antenna
Transformer

Accurate Impedance Transformation Proper Feedline Isolation Low Loss
The AY Technologies TRX-16 Receive Antenna Transformer is built with the best components and materials: SO-239 coax connector, large size ferrite cores, gas tube surge protector, metal-to-metal contact binding posts and a rugged PVC enclosure. The 16:1 impedance ratio is designed specifically for Pennant, Flag, EWE, and other receive antennas with feedpoint impedances in the 540-1600 ohm range (see specifications below). Some well-known Pennant/Flag transformer designs have as much as 6 dB loss! The TRX-16 has no more than 1/2 dB loss, making it a much better choice for these compact, but inefficient antennas.
Specifications
Impedance transformation: 16:1 (output vs. input impedance)
50 ohm system: 800 ohm optimum load impedance; 540-1100 ohms with 1.5:1 VSWR
75 ohm system: 1200 ohm optimum load impedance; 800-1600 ohms with 1.5:1 VSWR
Bandwidth: Optimized for 1.8-7.3 MHz, usable 1.5 MHz-15 MHz

Instructions
For a typical Pennant or Flag installation, connect the antenna to the Red and
Black binding posts. For most effective surge protection, connect the wires
that are highest to the Red binding post. Connect either 50-ohm or 75-ohm coaxial
feedline to the SO-239 connector. For phased arrays, 180-degree phasing can
be accomplished by exchanging the Red and Black connections. Note that the mounting
bracket must be grounded -- the surge protector will not function without grounding!
